They discuss Bridges' work in “A Very ‘Gay’ Straight?: Hybrid Masculinities, Sexual Aesthetics, and the Changing Relationship between Masculinity and Homophobia” (2014,) which is based off of research findings from a study of 63 men participating in three different group settings. Bridges discusses hybrid masculinities (Messner 1993) and sexual aesthetics which "refer to the cultural and stylistic distinctions that are used to create symbolic boundaries between gay and straight cultures and people..."
